A group of us braved the snowy conditions and headed to Birmingham to this event organised by Birmingham Flute Choir. There we met with Flute Choirs from all over the UK for a day of fun playing, workshops, and 2 concerts in which we took part. The day opened with a mass playing of The Birmingham Tango, composed especially for the event by Mel Oriss. It was fantastic to be playing alongside so many other flutes in such a great auditorium. A highlight was hearing Marie-Christine Zupancic playing Debussy’s À l’Après-midid d’un Faune on her gold flute -stunning!
