From the 4th October the Flute Choir are trialing earlier timings.
Rehearsals will now be now from 1-2pm.

Many thanks for agreeing to play with the flute choir on Saturday April 25. I am so looking forward to seeing you again..it’s been 10 years in some cases….
These are the arrangements.
Concert day: Saturday 25th April
Rehearsal at the venue. St Mary’s Church, Lydney.
2pm prompt please. There will be a midway break, and then a shared meal between the rehearsal and the concert. Contributions very welcome.
6.30 pm rehearsal of Annie’s Song with The Springfield Singers.
Concert starts 7.30. Finishes 9.30 ish.
Concert dress is black.
It might be cold in the church: you might need to put extra layers on. You should probably bring a stand light if you have one.
There is parking available close by.

The heating is broken in St Paul’s, Parkend so the church wardens have offered us St Swithens Viney Hill. If you remember, we played a Christmas gig there a couple of years back and it was freezing. BUT! I went to a Christmas Eve service there and it was actually warm….The heating has been fixed!
So please meet in Viney Hill church on Sunday at 2…

The Forest Flute Choir is delighted to announce that this yearthe choir will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a special gala concert to be held in St Mary’s Church, Lydney, where the choir will be the special guests of The Springfield Singers, directed by Tracey Gwynne.
The flute choir was founded in 2006 by local flautist and teacher, Fiona Crawley, who has continued as its conductor and musical director to the present day. The choir plays all genres of music from baroque to The Beatles, and is completely inclusive, welcoming people of all ages and abilities. The only prerequisites are a flute, a music stand and a sense of humour. The ability to read music is a must too.
Fiona Crawley said, “we work hard to create a fun and relaxing atmosphere where anyone can join in. People often tell me that they used to play the flute at school and want to try to get back into it but struggle to find the time and motivation for practice. Well, this is ideal for these people. We’re non judgmental and quite informal. We really don’t mind if you’re rusty! We’re all a bit rusty!”
The flute choir is also joining musicians in Pembrokeshire in May when it will perform in St David’s Cathedral.
If you play the flute, or used to play the flute, and want to return to music making, then please just pop along to one of our rehearsals. We rehearse on Sunday afternoons at St Paul’s Church in Parkend, Forest of Dean, starting at 2pm and finishing around 4pm.
